Visit to Grandma's

It was hard to believe the summer had almost passed and we hadn't made it out to the Ocean Beaches once.   It was time for a visit to Grandma's house.  We wanted to help her with a garage sale and have time to visit with her before we take off for our family vacation in September.

Daddy had to save his vacation time for our family trip so the kids and mom headed down on our own.  A perfect rest stop is Cabela's.  By the time we get down there we are about 2 hours into the 3 and a half hour trip.  It is a great place to stretch our legs, use the bathroom and grab a snack if we are hungry.  It was quite an adventure this time.  We were hoping to pick up some nice shoes for Stephanie.  But when we got there the electricity was out and they were on generator power.  Everyone was shopping with flashlights.  It was very dark!  We had fun getting spooked out by the animals and even found good shoes for Stephanie without much light.  But before we left the lights came back on and we went to see the fish tanks.  Elayna was really into the fish!

We spent so much time stuck in traffic and browsing Cabela's that we didn't arrive at Grandma's until very late.  It was time to start getting ready for the garage sale as soon as we woke up the next morning.

The weather cooperated and even allowed for picnics in the front grass.

The big kids went down to the beach after the first day and Jacob found Sand Dollars.

The deer visit Grandma's yard every day.

On the last day we finally made it to the beach.  Elayna just wanted to fill her sand bucket and dump it....and fill it again.

Stephanie enjoyed the sun.

Jacob flew kites.

Clara made sand castles.

Elayna.... kept filling buckets.

The garage sale was a success.  Grandma got her garage cleaned out.  We all made a little money.  And we had fun talking to people who came to the sale.  Locals and tourists.

  1. I love Ocean Shores. There are some great sea creatures to find. I loved finding sand dollars and star fish.

It looks like everyone was having a great time. It is awesome that you have a place like that to go to.
