Stanwood Fair

It has been too long since I updated the blog.  We have been so busy keeping up with all of the animals and summer activities.  I will start today by putting up some pictures from the fair.  Grandma came with us this year.  We all had a great time even though mom had a sore back and had to spend most of the day going from bench to bench.

The little girls got the sweet ride that mom wanted.

A day of unhealthy eating started while we watched the horse show.  It isn't everyday you can have fair food though right?

Neat old stump left near the learning museum.  The kids can actually crawl in and out of it.  This stump was probably a tree here before there were any European settlers.

The kids watch children their age showing cows and wonder if we should get cows.  Sorry kids!  Probably the one animal we can't make work here.

Much to Grandma's dismay all the kids wanted ribs for lunch!  Grandma just didn't appreciate fair quality ribs the way her grandchildren did.

Then we got started on the rides.  We always choose Friday morning to go because there are so few people there.  The kids got to go on rides for a couple of hours with no lines, sometimes they were the only people on the rides.  They got ride bracelets so they could just stay on some and go over and over. Mom and Grandma got to sit on a bench and visit most of the time.  One advantage to a small fair.

Big kids went on rides too, but mom, Stephanie and grandma were hanging out with the little girls so they never got pictures of the big kids.  But they went on so many rides that one of them threw up (name omitted to protect privacy).  The good news is that he or she made it to the garbage can and then went right back to the rides. :)

As people started to get to the fair we were no longer the only ones on the rides so we moved on to games.  The Stanwood fair has a fun mix of traditional carnival games and some free (sponsored) games.

Anna came in first in the donut eating contest.  Hmmmm, one of my girls came in first last year too.  Maybe some table manor lessons are in order.

I didn't understand the rules to this game but Anna and Elayna enjoyed it!

We took a short break and watched a comic/musician and then got back to eating. :)

This guy was amazing!

I don't even want to imagine how many hours he walked around on those stilts.  And he was super friendly to the kids!

No day at the fair would be complete without supporting a local cause by relaxing and playing some bingo.   We had half an hour to kill while we waited for Stephanie so we all played some bingo.  Nobody won anything but we all had fun.

This is the end of our story about the fair.  By now the careful observer is confused.  They have noticed that the children seem to have undergone a wardrobe change at some point.  The weather is different at times of the day that it should have been the same and the very careful observer has noticed daddy suddenly appeared in the backround at some point.
Most of these pictures were taken the day we went to the fair with Grandma.  But then on Saturday Stephanie had to sell raffle tickets to raise money for the WSU livestock advisor program.  Towards the end of the day the rest of the family came in to hang out with her and show Daddy some things we liked at the fair.  If you noticed the inconsistencies good for you!

  1. Wow, that looks like so much fun. We didn't go to the fair here this year, it was in the 100's and too hot. I did notice the clothing changes but didn't really think a lot about it. I was wondering what you had to wait for Stephanie for though. I am glad you were able to show Craig what you all got to see and experience. It looked like a fun filled day. I am glad your mom was able to be there and experience it too!!
